If your child is waking up before it’s actually time to start the day, often between 4:30 and 5:30 a.m., this course will help you address it with two practical tools: a consistent morning routine and an okay to wake alarm. You’ll learn the difference between an early morning waking and a developmentally appropriate wake time, and how to gradually shift your child’s wake up time to one that works better for your family.
What you’ll learn:
- How to tell the difference between an early morning waking and a wake time that’s simply earlier than you’d prefer
- How to build a morning routine, including which activities to include and how they differ in purpose from a nighttime routine
- How to use your sleep journal to gradually shift your child’s wake time later in five to fifteen minute increments
- How to use an okay to wake alarm, including a full example schedule, to teach your child to wait for an appropriate signal before getting up
- How to decide between the morning routine alone or adding the okay to wake alarm, and why committing to a method for at least five days matters
- How to handle exceptions like vacations or sleepovers without losing progress
- How to use morning reinforcement to support your child through the process
This course works alongside the nighttime routine strategies from earlier in the series, and is the second to last course before Maintaining Progress.
