Purposeful Parenting

Graham Behavior Services’ comprehensive parent coaching program, pairing live workshops, on-demand videos, group cohorts, and one-on-one mentorship with the science of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), so your family gets real support during the years that shape your child’s future.

Why Purposeful Parenting?

Everyone takes childbirth classes. Everyone takes courses to help their child get into college. But what about everything in between?

We’re bridging that gap: the formative years between birth and adulthood, when so much of your child’s social and emotional foundation gets built, with very little guidance available.

Through Purposeful Parenting, you’ll build a practical parenting toolbox rooted in research-based, positive strategies designed to reduce challenging behaviors and grow the behaviors you want to see more of. The program draws on over 50 years of ABA research, adapted into everyday tools for everyday family life.

Find Your Fit

Self-Paced Videos

Format: On-demand video, no live meetings

Time Commitment: Watch at your own pace over 60 days

Best For: Parents-to-be, and parents of infants and toddlers who want a head start on proactive, science-based parenting

What You’ll Learn: Four foundational skills: being fully present with your child, teaching replacement skills and delivering rewards, minimizing attention for minor behavior slip-ups, and giving clear, effective instructions.

What’s Included:

  • Video access for 60 days, to watch at your own pace

Who It’s For:

  • Parents who want to build a strong foundation with their children
  • Parents of infants or toddlers who want to jump-start their parenting skills with proactive, science-rooted approaches
  • May not be the right fit if your child is already displaying challenging behavior; we recommend a consultation instead so we can point you toward the right level of support.

In-Person Mentorship

Format: One-on-one with a dedicated professional mentor, in person

Time Commitment: 20 weeks, one 2-hour session per week

Best For: Families who want hands-on, individualized guidance and more involved behavior support

What You’ll Learn: The first several weeks cover our five core parenting skills. From there, your mentor works with you on what your family specifically needs: mealtime struggles, potty training, sibling conflict, bedtime battles, social skills, and more.

What’s Included:

  • 20 weeks of mentorship, one 2-hour session per week
  • The first 70% builds your five core parenting skills: being present, teaching replacement skills and providing rewards, minimizing attention for minor behaviors, delivering effective instructions, and providing breaks for more serious behaviors
  • The remaining 30% is tailored to your family’s specific needs, which may include social skills, mealtime struggles, getting-out-the-door battles, potty training, social manners, sibling conflict, and bedtime

Who It’s For:

  • Parents looking for professional, individualized guidance for their child
  • Families managing challenging or problem behaviors who want a plan customized to their specific situation
  • Parents who prefer consistent, in-person mentor support over a self-paced or group format

Guided Support Group

Format: Small group sessions led by a professional mentor, alongside other parents

Time Commitment: 10 weeks, one session per week (30–60 minutes); new cohorts run five times a year

Best For: Parents of children 10 and under who want community, prevention-focused strategies, and practice for everyday challenges

What’s Included:

  • One group meeting per week
  • Access to video recordings
  • An evaluation of more intensive needs, to make sure strategies are generalizing at home
  • Recommendations for other services if your family could benefit from more support

Who It’s For:

  • Parents of children 10 and under
  • Families looking to prevent challenging behaviors, or address minor, commonly occurring ones
  • Parents of infants and toddlers looking for practice strategies
  • Anyone who wants to build more effective communication, since behavior is often a child’s way of communicating

Virtual Individual Sessions

Format: One-on-one with a dedicated professional mentor, fully virtual

Time Commitment: 10 weeks, one session per week

Best For: Families who want individualized, mentor-led guidance with the flexibility of meeting from home

What You’ll Learn: Like our in-person option, most of the program covers the five core parenting skills. The remaining sessions are tailored to your family, covering things like mealtime struggles, potty training, sibling conflict, bedtime battles, and social skills, all from wherever’s convenient for you.

What’s Included:

  • 10 weeks of virtual mentorship, one session per week
  • The first 70% builds your five core parenting skills, backed by research
  • The remaining sessions are tailored to your family’s specific needs, which may include social skills, difficult mealtimes, getting-out-the-door battles, potty training, social manners, sibling conflict, and bedtime struggles

Who It’s For:

  • Parents looking for individualized strategies for their child, without needing to be in-clinic
  • Families managing challenging or problem behaviors who want a plan customized to their specific situation
  • Parents who prefer the flexibility of meeting virtually over in-person sessions

When to Loop in Your Mentor

If you’ve been consistent with the strategies your mentor has taught you, and your child is still struggling with breaks (resisting them, or needing more than 3–4 a day), that’s a sign to check in with your mentor. Every family is different, and your mentor can help adjust the plan or recommend next steps. You should never need to physically guide your child to a break spot. If that’s happening, reach out right away.
