What does a special education advocate do?
We partner with parents, caregivers, and families as they work with the New Jersey school system. We help you share your concerns with your school district, understand and take part in the IEP process, and decide whether your child’s current placement is the right fit. We support autistic students, students with disabilities, and students who face behavioral challenges.
Who can benefit from a special education advocate?
Families of children with many different needs, including autism, ADHD, learning disabilities, intellectual disabilities, and emotional or behavioral challenges. Whether you are starting the IEP process or looking at a different school placement, an advocate can help you understand your options, ask the right questions, and feel prepared.

What does advocacy include?
Document review: your child’s IEP, completed assessments, and other school documents
Meeting support: IEP meetings, 504 meetings, mediation meetings, tours of new or possible placements, and other school meetings

Do you attend meetings virtually or in-person?
Virtual or in-person, whatever works best for you.
- Virtual meetings: no extra charge
- In person, within one hour each way: travel is included at no extra cost
- In person, farther than one hour each way: we bill the full round-trip drive time at $158 per hour. For example, a meeting 1.5 hours away each way is billed as 3 hours of drive time.
- Add-ons: drive time is billed at $158 per hour for any in-person visit
- Travel time never uses up your package hours.
Other Questions About Advocacy
How do package hours work?
Any time we spend on your case counts toward your hours, including calls, document review, prep, meetings, and follow-up. The free discovery call and travel time do not count.
What if I need more hours?
Extra time is billed at $158 per hour. We check in as you near the end of your included hours and confirm with you before any additional hours begin.
Can I start with Parent Foundations and upgrade later?
Yes. If you move to IEP SOS within 30 days of purchase, you pay only the $250 difference.
Do you accept insurance?
Special education advocacy is private pay and is not billed through insurance.
Can I buy an add-on without a package?
Yes. FBAs, independent evaluations, program review, and placement review are available on their own at $158 per hour.
Can you promise a specific result at my IEP meeting?
No. Decisions are made by the full IEP team. We can help you feel prepared, understand your rights, and speak up for your child’s needs.
